Bill Merrington's Qualifications

 PhD, in Psychology, Hon PhD, MPhil, BSc (Hons), former chartered psychologist, PGCE, FHEA, Dip-CBT-Hypnotherapy, cert play therapy, Dip. in Supervision.

Publications and Teaching

Bill has published over 14 books (publisher, Kevin Mayhew) and contributed to many more on the theme of counselling, pastoral care, loss issues both for adults and children (see books section).

Bill has a PhD in Psychology from Warwick University, studying the long term affect of a loss of a child upon a family both in the UK and internationally. Bill has lectured at a range of universities and colleges including Oxford and Cambridge on subjects such as counselling, pastoral care, resilience, bereavement and loss issues, self-harm, suicide issues and building self-esteem. Bill was awared an honorary Doctorate from Bournemouth University for his work with pupils and staff.

 

Bill regularly wrote for the York Press, weekly writing a full page feature article on the subject of mental health and well being.

Accreditation

Bill is a member and an honorary life member of ACC (Association of Christian Counsellors) as an accredited counsellor and supervisor. He served on the board of ACC for many years.
